Harriet L. Jones, MD, FACP
- Dr. Harriet Jones received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1998. She subsequently completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of MS Medical Center (UMMC) Hospitals and Clinics. Since that time she has practiced in both the academic and private practice settings. In 2003, while on faculty in the Division of Infectious Diseases at UMMC, she began the Outpatient Antimicrobial Service program which continues to provide vital services for patients requiring prolonged courses of antimicrobial therapies in the outpatient setting. Later, in 2011, through the Division of Internal Medicine at UMMC, Dr. Jones led a team in establishing the outpatient Wound Management Services Clinic which was dedicated to providing wound care for patients with complex chronic wounds. During her tenure at UMMC, she served on various committees for the hospital related to wound prevention and also served as a faculty judge for the Internal Medicine Residents Research Poster Day.
- In 2015 Dr. Jones’ career path led her to the full time practice of inpatient medicine where she served as a Hospitalist in the Jackson Metro area from 2015 – 2019. In 2017, Dr. Jones was honored to become a Fellow in the American College of Physicians, which is the largest national and international professional organization of Internal Medicine physicians. In 2019 Dr. Jones joined the outpatient Internal Medicine Group at St. Dominic’s Hospital. Dr. Jones received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1985. Over nine years as a registered nurse she worked in various inpatient and outpatient hospital settings prior to starting medical school in 1994. She and her husband of 37 years have one daughter; 2 dogs, and 2 cats. They make their home in Pearl, Mississippi, where they are members of Park Place Baptist Church.
